Simplify Your Life
Have you ever felt like ‘dang, why have I taken on too much? What’s this constant need for me to make things more difficult and bite off more than I can chew?’ Most of the people who roam the earth, living their lives have felt this way at least once if not more than a dozen times. So how do we get to that lovely simplified lifestyle? You know like in the old-time shows when the family sits down on the couch after having dinner together to watch their favorite show on TV looking relaxed to the max. (Eloise, how did you come up with this awesome relatable topic?) Well, I’ll let you in on how this amazing topic came about and I’ll even give you the formula to the simple life.
A recent lesson I’ve learned in a more difficult way is to SIMPLIFY life. I was straining myself, spreading myself too thin here and there trying to make enough money to feed and cloth my children and essentially give them an easier life than I had (as parents strive to do). But during this process I lost myself briefly. I got swept away with the wrong motives ‘MONEY’ I need to make money! In doing so I slowly found myself becoming not too happy and more stressed. I guess you could say I lost a little faith and my way in life!
What Saved Me Recently?
I dare you to read this to its entirety to get the moral… let’s just call it a mini book of an important life lesson!
It took a good prayer one night for the following morning to get my answer. I prayed about finding my happiness that I was losing and in turn becoming stressed. The two are tied together you know?! losing happiness only increases stress, which is bad for our health! And that’s exactly what was being affected by all of this, MY HEALTH! As many of you long-time readers on my blog know, I have had major health problems in my life do to a rare genetic liver disease (Wilson’s Disease) Over the years my health has improved to the point Doctors continually call me a miracle. However, this past year some of my numbers are getting worse. Of course this scares the bejesus out of me because it’s haunting and is a reminder of the hard times that I don’t ever want to go through again, and even more important that I don’t ever want my kids go through again.
Weekly Success and Life Planner – A 12-Month Journey Creating Your Dream Life – Personal Journal & Weekly Planner & Goal Planner & Organizer by Freedom Mastery (UNDATED, Black)
So I dropped my kids off to school last Friday morning when I bumped into a parent that I’ve grown to know over the past year and a half. Talking to him about life and about my goals and what I want to achieve in life (and he talked about his life too, I didn’t do ALL of the talking!) Talking to him made a lightbulb ping on in my head and soul as I realized what I need to do and what I need to get rid of to become happy again. My goal involves writing (a difficult career to get well-known and respected in which I WILL soon enough!) but as you may have noticed I had become sidetracked with a sales job to make money fast. BUT this was NOT what I wanted to do and it was taking my time away from my main goal (WRITING my books!) So I think it’s safe to say it was slowly sucking the life out of me and that’s why it became clear to me that I must get rid of what isn’t working for me… Yes you guessed it right, I quit my SALES job.
Make Your Dreams Come True: Simple Steps for Changing the Beliefs That Limit You
After speaking with the first guy and feeling a little better about getting back on track. I bumped into another man I’ve known for more than a decade as I packed up my laptop and notebook and many other things to head to the coffee shop to work (because my internet at home crapped out!) So I began walking to the coffee shop when I saw my next-door neighbor leaving his house and walking towards the same direction. ‘Want to walk together’ I asked? ‘Yah’ he responded. We began talking about life (yes, it was a hot topic that day!) SIDE NOTE: My neighbor has a mental disorder and because of this I find him to be one of the most honest people I know. He is incapable of lying or biting his tongue, he’s blunt but respectful and I trust him more than most people. SIDE NOTE ENDED! Well anyway, we were talking about ‘independence’ I may have stated something in the lines of ‘I wish I were more financially independent so I can buy that house over there’ (I pointed to a house I really truly want to buy for my kids and I. This house I walk past every day and when I look at it, it just gives me this ‘at home’ feeling). I’m not in love with a man but rather this house, go figure!~wink~
So, as I mentioned in the first paragraph I was worrying way too much about money to the point it was causing stress and lessening my happiness… After I mentioned the house and wanting more financial independence he came back with something brilliant… ‘No one in this world is financially independent! We’re all tied together in some way helping financially. Even rich people need help financially with accountants, with investors, with customers. Think about the economy, we all pitch in some way shape or form. So you don’t have to worry about that Eloise, don’t worry about being financially independent because no one is’… BOOM! my mind was blown and my soul was happy to relieve that stress and weight on my shoulders, he helped change my perspective on a huge topic that was bothering me. (but I still want that house HA!)
Are you ready for this simple formula for a simplified life? What’s funny is that I read my horoscope just before writing this (Go Aries!) and it told me something similar to what I’m going to share with you now! (check out your horoscope daily, weekly, monthly on TwinCitiesView, click here!)
Draw a vertical line down the center of you paper. One side is going to be your goals, your happy side. The other side is going to be your overwhelming, don’t want to do, dwelling side. Now think… hmmm… what are my goals? jot them down! Now think again….hmmmm… What do I dread doing right now in life? What’s taking my time away from my main goal? Jot it down! Now give your not so fun, overwhelming side the stink-eye and say ‘not anymore!’ Think about getting rid of that side, let it disappear from your life. If it’s an obligation, well that sucks! (only kidding) If you have some you can’t get rid of than prioritize and if you can eliminate some, the time is now (do it!) and whatever you do DON’T add more to the stressful side!
Less stress= happiness (make it happen!)
My apology for this lengthily post, I know you’re busy people so I thank you for taking the time to read this to its entirety!
Take care readers!
