Shhh! Your Body Is Trying To Tell You Something…
Do we listen to our bodies enough? Do we battle with our gut feelings because we’d much rather do what’s fun or what needs to be done? Let’s take a moment to sit in silence and hear our bodies out… What’s that body, you want to sleep because you’re exhausted… hmmm, sleep DOES sound good, but I was just invited to this awesome event that I really want to go to. Can’t we just go to it and find sleep later? It’s funny how we argue with our bodies (gut feeling)! We want to learn new things and experience what the adventurous world has, while our body has had enough and needs peace (even when we know we’re starting to feel sick or we’re just too tired we find reasons to not listen). Let’s not do that anymore, if all possible!
What Is The Gut Feeling?
It is the body being able to speak intuitively to the mind. It is a collection of our experiences, beliefs, and memories that play a role in how we feel when certain things happen. It’s like a built in alarm that goes off when we are put in a situation, such as, stop and turn around, don’t go down that dark road something bad is going to happen I can just feel it. We can also refer to this as a hunch! Don’t make that deal with so and so, it’s not going to be in your favor, stop, run, say no, just don’t make the deal! (better listen to that gut feeling!)
This gut feeling is explained in the best way possible, but is it accurate? Can we really explain this gut feeling and how it works in our bodies? What many psychologists and researchers CAN agree upon is that it IS ‘hardwired into our bodies/minds. What some cannot agree upon is whether it comes from the subconscious and/or unconscious mind OR whether it is a short cut through the brains thought process and that it’s specialized in certain areas of the brain like the right hemisphere (where creative thought and intuition starts) and the cerebral cortex (affects the development of hunches), and the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (which remembers our past rewards as well as punishments).
Who’s right? who knows… I guess it’s up to the individual and how they want to asses the information available. Maybe both sides are right, maybe it takes everything our bodies have to alert us and speak to us. Maybe both sides of the argument are wrong, maybe it’s spiritual, maybe it’s our angels guiding us and speaking to us through the only way we humans can understand/hear. Maybe it’s unexplainable…
Stay in tune with your body. Listen to it more, and do your best to feed it what it needs and avoid what will lead you into trouble (sleep, exercise, healthy foods, a warning to stay away from Mr or Ms Crazy, and/or not to buy that super expensive thing)… If you don’t listen to your GUT it’ll find a way to let you know in some way shape of form. Am I talking about karma? I guess you can say that! If you don’t listen to your gut just wait for the consequences to come, because they WILL!
But Eloise It’s Hard To Always Listen and Follow Our Gut…
I know sometimes we can’t listen to our bodies no matter how bad we want to, like people with kids, it doesn’t matter if you’re sick, you still have to tend to the kids (and that’s just one example!) Take me for instants… This weekend I was listening to my body but I wasn’t doing what my body needed (REST) Believe me when I say I wanted to rest, but I have two kids to run all over the place and I just couldn’t find the time… Not to worry because my body got payback this morning as I slept right through my alarm (which I NEVER do!) Did my kids get to school on time? Yes, yes they did, miraculously!… I’m not going to lie, it felt good to sleep in… Ha! ~wink~
What do you think about the wonderful GUT FEELING?
Take care readers!
