Wait Pokémon GO has health benefits? that’s crazy! No, that’s awesome, is what it is! So how did this brilliant plan come about to help Gamers get off their butts and go outside into the real world, who came about this fantastic idea, how do you play this highly growing popular game, Pokémon GO? I’ll dig into all you need to know about the game and the 3 benefits to your health. (I know 3 benefits doesn’t seem like a lot, but they’re important ones!)
So How Do You Play Pokémon GO?
About Pokémon App from Pokémon GO’s official site (I couldn’t have explained it better than them)
Get on your feet and step outside to find and catch wild Pokémon. Explore cities and towns around where you live and even around the globe to capture as many Pokémon as you can. As you move around, your smartphone will vibrate to let you know you’re near a Pokémon. Once you’ve encountered a Pokémon, take aim on your smartphone’s touch screen and throw a Poké Ball to catch it. Be careful when you try to catch it, or it might run away! Also look for PokéStops located at interesting places, such as public art installations, historical markers, and monuments, where you can collect more Poké Balls and other items. Well it’s no surprise that getting off the couch and being in the fresh air outdoors to collect Pokémon is a step in the right direction. The more you walk the more likely you’ll see a variety of Pokémon to throw your Poke Balls and catch them. You can join one of three teams (yellow, blue, or red) and start the turf wars, as my younger brother of 11 years has put it. So getting outdoors is #1.
Walking is a form of exercise and this is something you will be doing a lot of to play this game successfully. Although sometimes you will find Pokémon right in your home, at the table, in your plate, closet, etc… it’s actually pretty funny, like hey, how did you get in here?! (BUT for the most part, you’re walking around outside!) Walking #2.
You connect with other people, whether they’re family members out with you bonding while walking, finding and catching Pokémon, to strangers you don’t know but can come to know (making friends). My kids LOVE playing this game with my younger brother (ton ton Connor- en francais ton ton means uncle.) They are bonding like crazy while having fun (and I’ll be joining them next time around). So parents get out there with your kids every once in a while to connect with your offspring! I cannot tell you how many people I’ve seen outside walking around looking for the Pokémon, talking to others and forming groups in search for those cute and powerful creatures lately, too many to count! Socializing #3.
My kids, Jackson and Lily with a Pokémon called SlowPoke (which they named ‘Frank’)… they were out walking around the lake with Connor (taking the picture).
