The NEED of Getting Even With Someone
You’ve just been wronged, ohhh man! your heart is pumping and your clenched teeth have just turned into a crack of smile, why? well because you’ve just made a point to get revenge! Oh how sweet it’s going to be to punish the person who just angered you so much that you could cook an egg on top of your head, just like in the cartoons you used to watch as a child. It’s ON!
Why The NEED For Revenge?!
Want to know why it feels so good to come up with a master plan to get even? Well super smart Swiss researchers, as well as others in the field, have studied this vengeful desire by watching the brain activity of people who have been wronged and allowing those people to get revenge on those particular people in the case study. What they found was that the caudate nucleus (the reward part of the brain) was bursting with activity! (This is the time when people do their evil laughs MWAH HAHAHA!)
However, while it feels exciting and makes you beam with happiness to pounce on the evil person that ticked you off, it is only short-lived. The long-term effects are the opposite, that happiness has now disappeared and what you’re left with is a cycle of ‘getting even’ It never really goes away! There’s an awesome quote I must put here:
“A man that studieth revenge, keeps his own wounds green, which otherwise would heal.” –Francis Bacon
Michael (Mr good-looking – my future boyfriend, I’m just kidding…unless…) anyways, he agrees with me on the paragraph below…
The Best ‘Getting Even’ Strategy
It’s quite simple. Live your life filled with happiness and success. Use that anger to work hard achieving your goals. Use that desire to get even by surrounding yourself with good people and laugh a lot (no, not the evil laugh… the hahaha that’s sooo funny, you crack me up laugh!) Laughter is the best medicine, even for those times you wish to seek revenge but choose not to because you’re a responsible adult that would rather move on and heal.
And that’s what I have for you readers today on the relationship Wednesday topic!
