Maximize Your Productivity In A Stress-Free Way
Why oh why isn’t there enough time in the day to get things done you’re thinking?! You lay in bed up at night with too much on your mind, wondering how some people have it all together and seem so relaxed yet STILL get the things they need to get done, DONE! What are they doing that you’re unaware of? Do they sleep at night? How can you perfect your productivity to live a better lifestyle?
These are all amazing questions you have and if you watch this TedTalks video, featuring David Allen it should lead you down the right path to make the appropriate changes and become in control and in peace, because let’s face it you’re tired of living in constant stress that is affecting your overall well-being.
Time For Change!
Facts On The Matter
Mr Allen speaks about finding that zen place were we are completely in the moment (in the NOW!) Which is what normally happens in time of crisis because we’re forced to be in the NOW. He then talks more about HOW to find that zen feeling in our everyday life without having to be in crisis. It’s what he refers to as tackling things with the ‘appropriate engagement.’
David Allen breaks it down in easy to follow steps that make a lot of sense. The problem is not TIME (or your complaint, lack there of). The problem is having too much on your mind to not give yourself ROOM to think. Your mind is much like your workspace, if there’s too much clutter you don’t have enough room to be creative, so clean up the mess and maintain a clean workspace… Clean up your thoughts to create room for creativity. (But Eloise how do I do that? Good question!)
To be Zen with your thoughts you have to ‘Use your mind in order to get stuff off of your mind (say What?!) Stick with me and David Allen here! There are three steps one must take to be productive in a stress-free way… He first states that ‘If you do not pay ATTENTION to what has your ATTENTION, you will give it more ATTENTION than it deserves.’ That means you’ll sit there and worry about it and add more to worry to your list of worries instead of taking what’s on your mind and doing something about it right away.
Here’s what you need to do to give attention to what has your attention:
- Apply: Capture your thinking by writing it down!
- Notice: Take what you jotted down and think of the outcome and what the first step is needed to accomplish your task that has your attention. WRITE IT DOWN!
- Map It Out: What are the steps needed to get to the destination? Write/Draw the map out to follow from this day forward.
Something as simple as carrying a notepad and pen to jot your ideas/thoughts down can create an organized, productive, clear, creative mind. Remember, TIME is not the problem you have, it’s the SPACE you need.
Take care readers!
