Get Your Creative Juices Flowing
Oh dang! You have a brain-fart, you can’t think of anything…It’s like a writer with major writers block, hmmmmm… you stand looking out of the window on the gorgeous world in front of you. Hmmmm- then a few more hmmmm’s because nothing is coming to mind on how to be more productive in the workplace, in the home life, in your relationships, heck, in life. ‘I need some coffee’ you think, that’ll get me in the right frame of mind to get myself going. Does that work? Maybe for some and for a brief moment, but what if I could tell you there are other things you can do to get your creative juices flowing, huh?! What do you think of that? Wow, Eloise, thanks for this post, I hate having brain-farts (you’re welcome I say to you!) Please proceed if you want to be the next Steve Job’s, or the next amazing writer, or an even better more creative, inspiring YOU!
Tips To Conquering The Almighty Brain-Fart… Get Thinking!
Let’s put aside HOW we go about our every day routines for a minute, instead of doing the same old same old, try something else. If you normally go get a coffee at the same place every morning (I’m referring to your home kitchen too!) go to a different cafe. Sit and enjoy the new space you’re surrounded in, the new coffee you can’t wait to sip (let it cool down first, don’t want to burn that pretty mouth of yours!) Doing something as simple as this on your difficult thinking days will help spark your creative thinking.
Another way to get those juices moving inside your brain, is to get moving yourself! It is said the BEST way to become more creative is to WALK outside. There’s something magical about walking outside, many of the greatest thinkers/creators/artists of all times went on walks when they needed their imaginations to come alive and create ideas and turn them into goods and services. It doesn’t have to be a long walk, just enough to get you into a day-dream state. Oh, and don’t forget your headphones! Music along with walking is more beneficial than just walking by itself. It’s the rhythm in music that helps jolt your brain into a different thought pattern says Erin Stutland, a mind and body life coach.
Sometimes what gets us stuck is planning everything and trying to figure out HOW to accomplish your goal/project/task. The best way to get out of being STUCK with over thinking and overwhelming yourself with every little detail is to just get started. As scary as it sounds not being prepared for every step from start to finish you must dive in and commit and learn as you go. You have the idea, you have the desire, now just get started, figure it out along the way. The truth is, even the most fully prepared person that thinks they know it all, is STILL going to make mistakes, they’re still going to have life throw new things their way, so why not start and get those creative juices flowing that will most likely spark more thoughts and before you know it you’ll reach your goal.
Remember the quote ‘Two minds are better than one!’ (of course you do!) Well why do you think someone created that ingenious quote? (Yes, my guess is that they were one of those people walking around, getting the creative juices flowing.) Well, when we find someone we have good chemistry with and can work well together, it can open our minds to new views which, let’s face it, is beneficial for any part of our life. So go out into the social scene, find that person and create the unthinkable.
The last tip I’ll give you is going to be a tough one for most people… you ready for it? (let me just start by saying, don’t shoot the messenger!) Okay, here it is… Lock up all those techy gadgets you have and focus on the real world. David Greenfield, assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and the founder of the Center for internet and Technology Addiction, says technology is a big distraction, it is making people incapable of being bored which boredom is a good thing in moderation. The problem is that new ideas and energy toward change and social connection can come from boredom. So let yourself be bored, try not looking at your cell when waiting in line, or when you’re standing, or sitting, let yourself become more zen by leaving distractions out of sight.
Are you inspired now? Let me guess, you’re putting on those good walking shoes in 5 minutes (after reading this post and sharing, maybe even pressing the like button, AND commenting in the comments section… Man, thanks, it’s touching, it really shows you care taking that time to share!) Well, don’t forget those headphones people!
Take care and I’ll see you around…until next time readers!
