J’aime Paris! (Nous Sommes Unis- We Are United)
The terrorist attacks on France, hit me like a ton of bricks, because this is my native country, my roots that go far back through many generations… it is my core being that I am proud of. So when I heard of this horrible event unfolding I felt many emotions, especially ones of helplessness, anger, and worry. The first thing I thought about is my family in France… is everyone okay? I quickly accessed my Facebook account and made contact with one of my brother’s in France. I needed to make sure everyone was accounted for. Good news, they are all fine, but saddened by this horrible act. I wanted more information, but at the time no one knew as they were in the midst of it all.
Now that a weeks time has passed, the news channels as well as my family overseas has more to share about this attack, which I will share with you!
Friday the 13th is always considered to be unlucky for the people who are superstitious, and I’d have to say it rings true this November. 129 deaths and 368 wounded in Paris France. The main locations of these horrible attacks started from Bonne Biere restaurant along with neighboring cafes, to the Bataclan Concert Hall, also the bomb explosions outside of the Stade De France (stadium where Germany and France played a soccer match).
La Biere Restaurant
This restaurant was a target as a gunmen shot and killed five people. Bullets flew through windows hitting against walls causing panic in the city of love and lights, Paris. The terrorist then moved to another Restaurant near by, pointing his gun attempting to shoot a woman on the ground where she was once sitting happily at the restaurants terrace. Luckily she got away unharmed as the terrorist gun had jammed… he walked away from the scene.
The Bataclan Concert Hall
People packed the concert hall enjoying their night, when four men came into the room changing the fun atmosphere into sudden fear as they began shooting their weapons at innocent people. It was described as a ‘Bloodbath,’ pools of blood poured on to the floor as the gunmen yelled and shot randomly at whoever they chose. 89 people lost their lives with many wounded to this massacre. Few survivors tell their story… ‘bodies were laying everywhere on the floor, many dead, but others merely pretending to be dead. The gunmen where kicking the legs of the people laying down and if they thought you were alive they’d shoot.’ Some people made it out of the side door and into other rooms to hide. A pregnant woman even dangled herself out of a 2nd story window to save herself, as others made it to the roof top to await the police. The Elite French Police raided the concert hall saving the day as they shot and threw stun grenades to take over the situation.
The Stade De France
15 minutes into the soccer match an explosion killed multiple people and wounded several others. A suicide bomber was stopped at the Gate J entrance and not allowed in once security frisked and discovered the vest, the suicide bomber attempted to back away from security then detonated the bomb causing the loud explosion. Two more suicide bombers detonated their explosive vests about three minutes after the first explosion, one outside the stadium, another located close to a McDonald’s near by.
“Terrorism will not destroy France, because France will destroy it,” said President Francois Hollande. Spoken like a true french person, as we are passionate people with a strong will to make things right!
The president took action right away, calling a state of emergency… He has pledged to pursue a hard-line of security measures. He began with raids to catch the terrorist. The armed anti terror police were able to kill, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, age 27, who was the mastermind behind all the attacks. His cousin, Hasna Aitboulakan, age 26, nicknamed ‘Cowgirl’ blew herself up when caught in the raid. The cousins died in close proximity of each other in the town of Saint Denis located in northern Paris. Yossouf, ‘Cowgirl’s’ brother said he tried to talk to her and get her help because she was troubled, but she refused to listen. He stated that he could tell she didn’t care about life anymore…
What’s Happening A Few Weeks After The Attacks
The police are doing well, tightening security checks on travelers, and continuing the raids until all terrorists are caught. They are sending air strikes attacking ISIS. The French believe there were 8 terrorists involved in the Paris massacres, 7 which have died. One terrorist left to catch, and they will not stop until they have him.
Al-Qaeda claims to be responsible for the Mali hostage attack in a Radisson Blu Hotel. It is said that 10 gunmen took 170 people hostage Friday Morning, 27 of those hostages killed. The Malian army made it into the hotel and this attack has ended. They are now assessing the situation.
Just today I made contact with one of my brothers in France, and asked whether it is still tense, scary and on edge in France, or if people are beginning to heal and starting to get back to their everyday lives?… he told me, it is still a scary situation in Paris, but not so much where he lives. While being on edge and upset with the situation, people in other parts of France are getting back to their every day routines.
I wish everyone the best in France as you begin to heal and become stronger from this troubling time. I must say I love the outpour of support France is receiving from other countries, including the awesome USA where I live.
I cannot wait to visit France. I love France and I want to see my family and the beautiful country that has so much history… I have to start saving money so my kids and I can go and dig into our roots! I hear southern France, where I was born and spent a little time in, is absolutely beautiful… I want to see it with my own two eyes AGAIN!
…And Now Brussel’s Is Dealing With Terrorist Attacks (March 22 2016)
When And How Can We Make This World A Better And Safer Place For All? No More Terrorism Please!
…And so it starts again, dang terrorist! Two explosions, one caused by a suicide bomber, in the departure hall at Brussels Airport killing 10 people just before 8 a.m. local time on Tuesday. It doesn’t stop there… About an hour later, an explosion at the Maelbeek subway station in central Brussels, not far from the European Union’s core institutions, killing about 20 people, and injuring more than 230 others.
Eight hours after the explosions, a news agency affiliated with the Islamic State issued a bulletin claiming responsibility, calling Belgium “a country participating in the coalition against the Islamic State.” What prompted these attacks? Officials noted the timing of the attacks on Tuesday, just days after the arrest of the main surviving suspect in the assaults in and around Paris last year that killed 130 people.
“We were fearing terrorist attacks, and that has now happened,” said the prime minister of Belgium, Charles Michel.
The Belgian authorities released a photo of three men seen at the airport who they said were suspects and sought the public’s help in identifying one of them. The two others were “probably” suicide bombers, the police said. In addition, an explosive device, “chemical products” and an Islamic State flag were found in police raids in the Schaebeek district of Brussels.
The city, with a population of about one million, has been largely shut down. The Belgian prime minister asked residents to “avoid all movement” as the authorities braced for the possibility of additional violence. Flights to and from Brussels Airport, the city’s main international hub, are suspended through Wednesday. All subway lines on the Brussels network were closed, but some services resumed Tuesday afternoon, local news agencies reported. The Eurostar trains that connect Brussels to London and the Thalys trains that link the city to other European capitals were shut down. Eurostar said it expected to return to full service on Wednesday. The European Union complex is locked down. Only employees with badges can approach the building. The city of Belgium called for three days of national mourning. (stated in NewYorkTimes News)
When will this stop? Can it ever stop? Are people too set in their beliefs to make change and start seeing others as humans with emotions and love? It’s hard to see and hear, let alone trying to comprehend the WHY of this all? what is the point of killing innocent people? is it really making a difference? and then if you Do carry out your mission of killing everyone that doesn’t believe the same things as you, WHAT NEXT? what happens after?
