The Recovery Stage
The recovery stage is like the boot camp stage… It feels like you’ve now just finished getting your butt kicked in a horrible way, and you’re beginning to see the bruises from the IV’s placed in the veins of your hands, the bruises at the incision sites, the stitches, you think, make you look tough so you don’t mind that (although you’re scared to touch them- just admire them from afar!) Your surgical sites are sore to say the least as any movement is like a person pressing on a deep bruise you have (not comfortable people!) The gas that was placed in your body to pump your body up like a balloon so the surgical team can have enough room to work, sits in your body until it slowly evaporates, makes an uncomfortable stabbing feeling in the shoulders area. The throat is sore and keeps you from wanting to talk much because of the anesthesia tube that was lodged in there during surgery. Now do you get why I call this the boot camp stage? [Read more…]
